MANAGEMENT UPDATE.

THE IBM CENTER’S NEW ADVISORY COUNCIL

Back on January 21st, a note came into our inbox from Dan Chenok, executive director of the IBM Center for the Business of Government. It began as follows: As you know, we recently celebrated the Center's 25th anniversary, and are now entering our second quarter century!  As part of our quarter-centennial year, we are launching an external advisory council to help the Center identify important new issues for research, advise on upcoming content, share thoughts on key leaders to engage, and more.”  


We jumped at the opportunity to become two of the advisory council members and last week – after multiple and varying schedules were taken into account, the first meeting of the advisory council was held in hybrid form.


As Chenok wrote in a blog post that was published last week, The Council discussed “a variety of topics that ranged from improving civic education and enhancing government performance management to facilitating effective intergovernmental relations and leveraging the Center's content using storytelling and AI.”  


Given the amount of valuable content that already flows out of the “Business of Government” center, the advisory council will be a valuable tool to help stay on top of emerging trends, and help research and write about topics that have both current and lasting value.
