MANAGEMENT UPDATE.

FIGHTING WORKPLACE FATIGUE

State and local employers continue to struggle with high levels of employee fatigue, caused by the continuing worker shortage, excessive overtime, and worker burnout. Last year, the two of us, Katherine Barrett and Richard Greene, spent months talking with both sleep researchers and practitioners, delving into the causes of public sector employee fatigue, its safety and performance consequences, and new solutions.

On Tuesday, February 20, at noon EST, Linda Misegadis, senior government strategist at UKG, moderated a discussion with us about what we found, based on our 2023 UKG white paper, “The Impact of Fatigue on the Public Sector Workforce.”

You can watch the webinar here. While worker fatigue is not a new phenomenon, researchers continue to learn more about the impact of Circadian Rhythms on fatigue, and how to effectively use tools and strategies to ensure optimal services, a safe workplace environment and employee well-being.
